CPAC Update 06/17/2020 (COVID-19 GUIDELINES)
The Chastain Park Athletic Club (CPAC) submitted a compelling plan to the City of Atlanta Parks Department to fully reopen the pool last week, but under strict guidelines. (The guidelines are attached as submitted by CPAC to the City.) Our plan was vetted by the City of Atlanta’s Pandemic Team. The outcome was we have been given permission to slowly start reopening with our “Swim Teams” first. We know the public and our pool members are disappointed and we are too, since we cannot serve you yet. However, we are grateful to the Parks Department and Pandemic Team for their willingness to work with us and our initial progress.
As you may know, the Chastain Park Swimming Pool is 1 of 15 outdoor public swimming pools in the City of Atlanta. Piedmont Park, Garden Hills and CPAC operate independently through similar public-private partnerships with the City of Atlanta. Moreover, the Parks Department has the goal of reopening ALL the outdoor swimming pools in early July at the same time and earlier if possible.
We know you have a lot of questions, but we do not have all the answers yet. Some of our swim team programs have gradually start back this week with our year-round USA Swimming and US Masters teams first. These teams will be followed next week by our summer Tidal Waves Swim Team on Monday, June 22nd and then our Atlanta Adult Swim League team with the date TBD.
Thank you again for your extraordinary patience and support.
